Who operates BattleVS
BattleVS is a NanoVibeStudio production. For any privacy question or request, contact info@nanovibestudio.com.
What we collect
- Your email address — used for account access and security. It is not included in BattleVS reports. We do not use passwords.
- A screen name you choose, shown publicly when you comment.
- Optional profile context — broad region, age band, gender and interest categories. Every one of these is optional and each offers “Prefer not to say”.
- Your votes and battle activity, and comments if you post them.
- Technical and security logs needed to run the service and prevent abuse.
We deliberately do not ask for your date of birth, home address, postcode, phone number, income, health, religion, political views or ethnicity, and we do not ask for your real name.
Why we use it
- To give you account access and let you vote.
- To run battles, brackets and results.
- To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To produce aggregated insight and reports about how groups voted.
- To improve BattleVS, and to answer enquiries you send us.
Reports and aggregation
Reports are aggregated by design and describe groups, not identifiable individuals. Where a group is too small to be reported safely it is suppressed and shown as “Insufficient sample”. We do not sell identifiable individual-level personal data, and reports do not contain email addresses or account identifiers.
Lawful bases
- Contract / service operation — running your account and your votes.
- Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, service improvement and aggregated insight.
- Consent — marketing email, which is a separate opt-in you can withdraw at any time. Filling in your profile never opts you in.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account exists. Votes are retained as part of the permanent result record, because removing them would change published outcomes; where an account is deleted, votes are disassociated from you rather than altering the result. Automated retention schedules are not yet in place, so we currently take a conservative approach and keep only what the service needs.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to certain uses, or withdraw consent for marketing. Email info@nanovibestudio.com and we will respond. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
